Do you go for long walks just for the pleasure of it, without the need for a destination? Then, we are kindred spirits!!

I recently found a trail in our neighborhood that turned out to be a pure delight. It started as an open path and then became dense, wooded and totally gorgeous. It is hard to believe that this was a very urban trail, bordering the backyards of houses.

I found salmon berries, mushrooms and just the right number of people on the trail so that it did not feel too crowded or too eerie.
On one tree, I found these words typed on paper and stuck with tape – ‘ “Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.” – Mahatma Gandhi’. This was without a doubt inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement gathering momentum here in the US following the death of George Floyd while in police custody. In India, we grew up learning about Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy that there is power in non-violent civil unrest. And I so hope he is proven right once again.

I am hoping to keep exploring this trail and making new discoveries along the way.

Super place for a walk in nature
